(NO) MARGINE
(No) Margine is an international film series of interconnected episodes produced by Visore Lab. Each episode focuses on different societal topics and highlights marginalized communities. By following a different artist as they immerse themselves in the local scene of a selected city, the series explores how the city's subcultures shape their artistic process, offering an intimate look at the intersection of place, identity, and creation. Through its casting and narratives, (No) Margine gives space to voices often excluded from mainstream media, allowing artists from marginalized communities to express who they are and challenge societal norms within the context of the story.
SYNOPSIS
Far from her homeland, Tokischa travels to the Basque Country and arrives in San Sebastián, a city named after a martyr pierced by arrows. The symbolism resonates deeply with her own experience of public judgment and social exclusion.
Although she moves freely along the Basque coast, the quiet presence of moral scrutiny follows her. Familiar forms of conservative pressure reappear in subtler ways, piercing her spirit once more.
Through encounters with three strangers, healing begins. Each embodies values that Tokischa has always defended: radical self-expression, fearless sexuality, and defiance of social norms. With every encounter, one arrow is metaphorically removed.
The film evolves from solitude toward community. What emerges is not victimhood but transformation : a celebration of resistance and the sacred rebellion of living openly and unapologetically.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
VISORE creates to move. We build narratives that live far beyond the screen to actively challenge the conservative norms that hold us back. For us, (No) Margine is the necessary evolution of this drive: a series that refuses to just observe, but instead places the artists we believe in into a raw, direct dialogue with the communities that fuel them. We want to turn the weight of cinematography and the energy of subcultures into a living space where identity isn’t a concept, but a reality.
In this first chapter, 'Bisous Bisous', we immerse ourselves in the Basque landscape of Donostia to explore the intersections of faith, judgment, and the body. We chose Tokischa because she represents a modern incarnation of the martyr. She is a voice that has endured religious and social persecution only to emerge as a defiant symbol of sexual liberation. By drawing a parallel between her journey and the arrows of San Sebastián, we visually deconstruct the sting of conservative suppression. This film is a tribute to the Queer and Trans communities who turn resistance into art. Through a method that blurs the line between abstract choreography and organic intimacy, we invite the viewer to witness a return to the Self that is unapologetic, sacred, and free.
We feel the tightening of a global conservative era, and it haunts us. This shift does more than just threaten human rights; it creates a climate of fear that suffocates the very air we need to create and evolve. We see a world growing cold and rigid, where the pressure to conform stops us from seeing what is possible. We cannot sit and watch this stagnation happen. (No) Margine is our way of fighting back. We need to reclaim a space where the Self is liberated, because we know that true, soulful creation can only happen when we are entirely free.
